Hawkesdale P-12 College celebrates its mid-year formal dance with the support of GPG Australia

Hawkesdale Wind Farm has provided funding to the Hawkesdale P-12 College to assist in carrying out its annual formal dance night, a small rural college with an enrolment of approximately 160 local students ranging in age from 5 to 18 years. Definitely a great night of elegance, dancing, fun and laughter for all of its students! Organising the night was a “Work Related Skills” assessment task for a group of students, who approached their roles with maturity and commitment to providing the best possible night for their fellow students. Each of them was assigned a role and set of tasks to complete, having to work together to show the positive outcomes that can be achieved through strong teamwork. Student tasks assigned included a team leader, sourcing funding, workplace health and safety and permits, graphics and design, budgeting, technology and engaging the entertainment, refreshments and decorations.

Our Community and Stakeholder Engagement Officer for the Hawkesdale Wind Farm, Debra Dumesny, was invited to take part in an assessment panel at the conclusion of the project. Each student presented their roles and how each person contributed to the team outcome. Another example of how GPG Australia is dedicated to supporting communities local to their projects through active involvement and commitment, building strong relationships and contributing to a significant positive impact. Helping to foster a sense of community is key to ensure sustainable development and mutual benefit.
